The PGA is a not for profit Member-based organisation representing Professional golfers, Tournament Professionals, Club Professionals, Assistant Professionals, Teaching Professionals, Senior Professionals and Trainees working in golf facilities throughout Australia and overseas. PGA Members play an integral role in servicing the 1.2 million Australians who hit the fairways each year. The PGA Tour of Australasia carries a total prize pool of close to AU$10 million and encompasses events in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, with National Tournaments including the Fiji International and the prestigious Australian PGA Championship, Australia’s oldest professional event.
The PGA of Australia was a proud partner of the Avner Foundation for the 2014 Australian PGA Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast. On Friday 12 December, the Australian PGA Championship turned Purple, the representative colour of Pancreatic Cancer. Attendees at the tournament, from families and friends to the professional players and caddies, showed their support by "wearing something purple" to heighten awareness and support the crucial work the Avner Foundation carries out.
