In recent news scientists have claimed extraordinary success with using a patient’s immune cells to target a type of blood cancer. In one study the vast majority of participants with a specific type of leukaemia saw all symptoms vanish completely. This is quite a new area of research and has some researchers describing it as the holy grail of cancer research. While using a person’s own immune system to fight a cancer has shown great early promise in blood cancers, solid tumour cancers will be more difficult but are still a promising area of research.
The mission to improve the 6.1% survival rate of Pancreatic Cancer gets a boost today with the announcement of Avner’s Foundation Grant Funding Recipients.
Today, on World Pancreatic Cancer Day, Avner’s Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of a number of important Grants which it is hoped will pave the way for making survival of Pancreatic Cancer possible.
The 2015 (inaugural) Avner Pancreatic Cancer Foundation grant funding round has now closed. Thank you to all researchers who submitted online applications. We received an overwhelming response with over 15 applications received for both the Accelerator Grants and the ‘Woolies on Wheels’ Innovation Grants.
