We held our fourth Sydney “Put Your Foot Down” walk for Pancreatic Cancer at beautiful Palm Beach on Sunday 21st October. It has become quite an institution now on the Northern Beaches.
The walk incorporated a new fun team challenge “Avner’s Relay for Research” as well as the traditional walk along the beach. More than 215 registered for it and we raised in excess of $15,000.
The walks are only possible due a team of volunteers that help out in the planning and on the day and I would like to express my sincere thanks to them for giving up their time to do this.
A special thanks to the team from Community Medic, which gave us first aid support. It is an inspirational service set up by Simon Robinson and run by a crew of volunteers, with the aim of providing first aid training to the community and first aid support at community events. The team at our walk was: Simon Robinson, Nathan Horgan and Anne Howell-Smith. Read more about it at: http://communitymedic.org.au/?p=9
The North Palm Beach SLSC provided a lot of background support to help the event run smoothly. Photography was by volunteer photographer Mike O’Flynn from Pittwater Online.
Thanks also to our wonderful corporate supporters who ensure we raise the maximum amount possible for research. All profits from this and the Hobart, Brisbane and Adelaide walk will go to the APGI research.
