We are so excited to announce that our 6th Hobart “Put Your Foot Down Walk” for Pancreatic Cancer raised a record breaking $14,506 (and still rising)! To put this into perspective our 2017 walk raised almost 7 times the amount raised at our first walk held way back in 2011.
In spite of a little 'light' rain we had more than 200 enthusiastic walkers register in support of the Foundation and turned up dressed in very creative and varied purple outfits.
ABC news presenter, Peter Gee, was our wonderful MC again and we are so grateful for his ongoing support.
Thank you to Charlie for speaking at the walk and sharing your story.
Due to our generous corporate supporters who willingly donate to every walk, we are able to ensure the maximum amount can be raised for research. Thank you as always to Woolworths, Coca-Cola Amatil, Red Jelly, Beak & Sons, Wellcom Worldwide and Muk Haircare.
Also a very big thank you to our caring local supporters; Craigie Know Vineyard, Cripps Bakery and Tasmanian Bakeries for there continued and greatly appreciated support.
A very special thank you to Hobart City Council for lighting up Railway Fountain, Kennedy Lane and Elizabeth mall in purple from sundown to sunrise from April 3 – 9 in support of the walk and Pancreatic Cancer.
Thank you to Damien Strong from “Long Black Jack Coffee” who not only kept us all “caffeinated”, which was greatly appreciated on the damp morning, but who is also donating to the Foundation from the profits made on the day.
Our walk also made the news! Thank you WIN News Tasmania for sharing the highlights of our walk and bringing awareness to Pancreatic Cancer and our efforts to defeat it. Check out the WIN News Tasmania coverage in our video gallery.
Thanks also go to Jenny, Rachel and Melinda from the Hobart Photographic Society for their wonderful photos.
Thank you as always to the amazing energy, passion and organisational skills of Alex, Catherine, Kate, Allison and Dr. Louise for organising our 2017 walks and all the walks over the last 6 years. Their tireless efforts are reflected in the incredible results achieved year after year!
