6th Annual Sydney "Best Things in Life" Dinner

The 6th Annual 'Best Things in Life" Dinner was held in Sydney at the Ivy on George street, Thursday 7th August 2014. The evening was co-hosted by Woolworths Limited and Coca-Cola Amatil.

A big thank you to Grant O'Brien & Alison Watkins for hosting this great evening, which brought together over 320 guests from many leading companies across Australia and resulted in more than $261,000 raised for the Foundation.

This night saw guest speaker Norman Swan give an insightful speech on Pancreatic Cancer giving us all a great update on the progress made since our December National Pancreatic Cancer Research Strategy and the great support of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Caroline Kelly who spoke from the heart about her own experience, also spoke about the growing awareness in the community and product support of Coca-Cola Amatil Avner’s Deep Springs water with 10cents of all sales being donated to the foundation bringing us to the amazing total of $761,000. Grant O’Brien Woolworths CEO spoke of the growing momentum of the foundation along with a fundraising bike ride that he will be participating in this October.

Warwick White spoke of a new fundraising and awareness initiative as the foundation has been chosen to be the charity of the PGA Championship on the Gold Coast in December. Vince Sorrenti kept the audience entertained and John Mangos, friend and colleague of the late Peter Harvey did an outstanding job as master of ceremonies.

The Auctioneer Andrew Calliard as always did a wonderful job raising over $56,000 in the live & silent auctions. A big thank you to the Mathieson family for donating 5 nights on My Way, The Ross family and Jetstar for donating 7 nights in Seminyak with return airfares and David Beak for donating his ski lodge in Japan . Naum Onikul donated some truly great wines. Naum along with David Beak and the Mathieson family have been big supporters of the Foundation from the beginning and we are forever grateful of their support.

A big thank you to Donna Patchett who organised the dinner, Scott Eames who helped with many of the auction items and Maysoon El-Ahmed & Louise Culbert for helping on the evening.

Thank you to all that attended the dinner, it was a great night of entertainment, food and conversation all with raising over $261,000 towards the Foundation. Most at the dinner agreed they will all be back in 2015!
