Going Purple For Pancreatic Cancer

Sporting clubs across Australia are signing up for our very popular fundraiser, Going Purple For Pancreatic Cancer, where sporting clubs purchase and wear our special purple Avner socks for a game in July.

The campaign, organised by our Governor, Isabella Di Manno, receives so much positive feedback from all the clubs involved every year.

Our vision is to see sporting ovals across Australia full of “purple socked” sportsmen, women and children.

This is such an easy awareness campaign and fundraiser to get involved in. All you have to do is order our special “Purple Avner Socks” for your team or club and we will make sure they are delivered to you in time. Please get involved and spread the word.

Remember September

Even though September seems like months away Ben and David Wilheim, brothers and Avner Governors, have already started to work on the 2018 Remember September campaign. Last year Ben and David raised an astonishing $64,000 which took the total raised by the campaign for Pancreatic Cancer medical research over the past 4 Years to a staggering $124,000.

Participants give up all liquids except water for the entire month of September with their effort being sponsored by family and friends along the way. Our CEO, Julian Martin, was up for the challenge last year and at the end of it said “I thought this was going to be really hard, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. I felt really good by the end of the month and was so proud to be part of this campaign”.

Please make sure you subscribe to our newsletter so we can keep you posted.

Dragon Boat Racing for a Cure

While most of us have been sleeping in on Sunday morning Team “Fixing Fye” have been hard at work training for the Chinese New Year Dragon Boat Championships being held at Darling Harbour on Sunday, February 25.

Fye is not letting Pancreatic Cancer stop her. The team have raised over $25,000 for the Foundation’s medical research program.

Our love and support goes out to this amazing woman, her devoted husband Adrian and their dedicated team.

For more information on Fye and her achievements please go to www.fixingfye.com and if you would like to make a donation please go to www.gofundme.com/fixingfye

You will be most welcome to come along and support Fye at this amazing event on Sunday 25th February at Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

The Avner Foundation Charity Golf Day in Adelaide

On Friday, March 16 the second Purple Charity Golf Day is being held at the Mount Barker-Hahndorf Golf Club. Des Heffernan, who lost his friend, Peter Murphy, to Pancreatic Cancer in 2013 wanted to do something with the support of Peter’s friends and family to raise money and support of the Foundation. As Peter was a longstanding member at the Barker-Hahndorf Golf Club and a keen player, setting up this golf day was a “no brainer” for Des.

The four person ambrose teams will be restricted to just 26 so don’t miss out. The day will be filled with lots of challenges, fun and prizes for all players and is proudly sponsored by the Vectra Corporation.
