On the 1st September 2017, a group of ordinary Australians set off on a gruelling and emotional challenge, and walked the Kokoda Trail.
Though they did this In Memory of their close friend Peter Grima, who was tragically taken by Pancreatic Cancer in 2016, they also did this for everyone who will be diagnosed with this awful disease in the future. The team’s aim was not only to raise awareness but also vital funds for cutting edge Australian Medical Research into the disease.
The Wish You Were Here team represents the vast majority of Australians who have been touched by cancer and are determined to take positive action.
The Wish You Were Here team know that they do not stand alone and have agreed to host a Gala Dinner on the 8th November so that others can join them to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one that has been lost to Pancreatic Cancer, while making a difference for others.
The Gala Dinner has been planned to coincide with World Pancreatic Cancer Day which follows a week later, so it’s an ideal time for our community to join forces for the cause.
Key note Speaker, Kokoda Trekker and all round good guy Peter Fitzimmons is an Ambassador for Wish You Were Here and will be joined on the night by Deni Hines and The Australian Girls Choir as part of the headline act. It promises to be a great night and one to remember!
The Avner Foundation encourages all our supporters to get behind Wish You Were Here by coming along to the Gala Dinner on 8th November or by supporting Wish You Were Here in any way you can.
